Drawing from shortwave radio static, electric field disturbances, controlled feedback manipulation, and numerous textural scrapings, San Francisco sound artist Jim Haynes aims towards a broken minimalism whose magnetic drones lend the impression of timelessness, when in fact the environment is quite active. Eric Lanzillotta has been involved in sound in various aspects over the last two decades, with releases on Anomalous, Selektion, Alluvial, RRRecords, etc. His recent work uses live analog synthesizer, with a focus on long form works which follow the path of the electronics’ subtle changes, a music of timbres and textures rather than notes and melodies.
