Presented by Earshot Jazz Festival. Pianist Nelda Swiggett‘s music is clear, direct and crisp, her improvisations coming out of her roots in classical music. For this performance, Swiggett adds Seattle Symphony members Rachel Swerdlow on viola and Walter Gray on cello, with Chris Symer on bass and Byron Vannoy on drums. They’ll play music from Swiggett’s releases This Time and Hands On, plus ten new unrecorded pieces.
Each month, Nonsequitur and a community of like-minded organizations and artists present ten concerts of adventurous and experimental music in the gorgeous Chapel Performance Space at the Good Shepherd Center (which sits on the traditional homelands of the Duwamish people): contemporary/post-classical composition, free improvisation and the outer limits of jazz, electronic/electroacoustic music, new instruments, phonography, sound art, and other innovative musics.
