Praised by Musical America as “four top-notch players in a perfectly balanced ensemble,” this award-winning group is made up of four of New York City’s most active and versatile flutists: Rie Schmidt, Wendy Stern, Sheryl Henze and Elizabeth Brown. Flute Force celebrate their 25th season with world premieres by Pulitzer prizewinner Joseph Schwantner and 2007 Guggenheim Fellowship recipient Elizabeth Brown. The program also includes music by Seattle’s own Roupen Shakarian.
Each month, Nonsequitur and a community of like-minded organizations and artists present ten concerts of adventurous and experimental music in the gorgeous Chapel Performance Space at the Good Shepherd Center (which sits on the traditional homelands of the Duwamish people): contemporary/post-classical composition, free improvisation and the outer limits of jazz, electronic/electroacoustic music, new instruments, phonography, sound art, and other innovative musics.
