Theatrical virtuoso, composer and participant in all of SCP’s Icebreaker festivals, Russian pianist Ivan Sokolov joins the Seattle Chamber Players: Erik Satie Sports et Divertissements, John Cage Imaginary Landscape and Bacchanale, Cathy Berberian Morsicat(h)y, Sylvano Bussotti Three Graphic Studies, Karlheinz Stockhausen Klavierstück XIV, Sofia Gubaidulina selections from Musical Toys, Alexander Raskatov Time of Falling Flowers, and Sokolov’s In the Sky, 13 Pieces, Volokos, Motherland, and Farewell Music.
Each month, Nonsequitur and a community of like-minded organizations and artists present ten concerts of adventurous and experimental music in the gorgeous Chapel Performance Space at the Good Shepherd Center (which sits on the traditional homelands of the Duwamish people): contemporary/post-classical composition, free improvisation and the outer limits of jazz, electronic/electroacoustic music, new instruments, phonography, sound art, and other innovative musics.
