Presented by Monktail Creative Music Concern. For five years, Sounds Outside: A Celebration of Adventurous Music & Community has brought creative music of the highest caliber to audiences, for free, in Seattle’s Cal Anderson Park. Due to tremendous financial difficulties that have gravely impacted our local economy, the festival carries a debt this year. The presenting collective has created a series of three concerts highlighting the work of its members, featuring a stellar line-up of Monktail composers and performers. Tonight’s concert features Scott Adams, Samantha Boshnack, Mark Ostrowski, and Stephen Parris.
Each month, Nonsequitur and a community of like-minded organizations and artists present ten concerts of adventurous and experimental music in the gorgeous Chapel Performance Space at the Good Shepherd Center (which sits on the traditional homelands of the Duwamish people): contemporary/post-classical composition, free improvisation and the outer limits of jazz, electronic/electroacoustic music, new instruments, phonography, sound art, and other innovative musics.
