The 19th Guitar Worship Service

Oh come all ye faithful to The 19th Guitar Worship Service for sound explorations by:

A.F. JONES & ROBERT MILLIS (Tracyton & Seattle, WA)
A truly special and rare collaboration of two bona fide musicians with decades of creative uniqueness. A.F. Jones is a composer, sound designer, architect of mastering studio Laminal Audio, a tastemaker who founded Marginal Frequency Records. Live performances utilize guitar, lap steel, and pedal steel. Fittingly, Jones co-directed an academic documentary on guitar legend-innovator Keith Rowe, which is available on YouTube.

Robert Millis
is also a sound designer and musician. Furthermore, his street cred also upholds him as a producer, scholar, and author. As a solo artist and half of Climax Golden Twins among other projects, Millis applies his gifted capabilities toward guitar and his profusion to create with other instruments whether musical or strictly sound-based. Jones and Millis are impressive people and their prowess for improvisational sonic performances is what their involvement is all about.

SPIRITUAL EXIT (Portland, OR)
As Spiritual Exit, Aaron Davis has spent years opening gateways of sensory guitar drone-music soundscapes and is an alumni of Seattle’s premier experimental record label Debacle Records. Davis’s technique continues to be carefully honed which renders listeners to make an acquaintance with out-of-body audio experiences.

PINK VOID (Seattle, WA)
After a ~10yr hiatus, Crystal Perez has been returning to live performing. Stronger than ever, the wait was worth it. PINK VOID will make its fourth appearance on a GWService lineup. You’ll see and hear why as Perez performs physical motion in a call-and-response nature with guitar that reaches sweepingly sublime territories.

EAT THE SUN (Bremerton, WA)
Started as an expansive solo recording project by JL in 2017. In 2026 Eat the Sun made its first live witnessing on Guitar Worship Service #11 as a duo with Caelum Roberts. Their explorations continue to evolve by melding densely processed warm static bass guitar feedback with tension-building analog Moog synths. Tag ETS as astral drone without the tropes of being overtly ‘spacey’.

COLORBARD (Tacoma, WA)
Visual artist-projectionist Matthew Terry aka colorbard visual has become a frequent collaborator with GWService events. Terry proves amazing as an optical sculptor of surreal, psychedelia, and abstract visuals. Colorbard masters the relationship of A/V interplay that enriches the audience’s eyes in coordination with the audience’s ears. Expect the interior of the Chapel to be transformed into a vivid ocular wonderland.

THE CHAPEL
As a room that measures 60’ x 60’ and two stories tall, it is well known for reverberant acoustics which thrives on dynamic capabilities for unamplified and amplified audio, music, and spoken word performances.

MISSION STATEMENT
Guitar Worship Service live performance event series encourages non-traditional approaches toward any kind of guitar whether physically and/or conceptually. Artists and bands have free reign to interpret this requisite.

Join us as we praise the coolest and most dynamic instrument ever conceived.
